Yesterday was a very nice Sabbath. We came home from church to yummy enchiladas and fajitas and blueberry cobbler. Who doesn’t like that?? After we ate, some clouds rolled in and it rained for about 15 minutes. We wanted to take a walk so we checked the weather channel and found no more clouds headed our way. The children and the puppies were excited! We loaded up and began walking down the mountain. One of our elderly neighbors has lots of fruit trees so we stopped by pick pears, peaches, and apples and to drool over her massive fig trees which are not ripe yet.The children so enjoyed eating their pears and it was one of those moments that just make you feel happy.
Just as we arrived at Grandma’s house to drop and say hello for a bit, the rain started falling. At first it was just a little sprinkle so we decided we would not stay and head back home. By the time we had walked a few block the rain was coming down steadily. We had to walk almost a mile in the rain. However, I actually enjoyed myself. Usually no one enjoys walking in the rain. Of course the kids were thrilled! We rarely let them play in the rain. This was a nice summer shower.
On the way to church my husband found a box turtle, a male, and brought him home to my daughter Hannah who loves all things nature has provided. Hannah, 5 years old, loves nature and is always amazing me with what her little eyes see and discover. The list the week has been: frogs, preying mantis, and snails. I think she might grow up to be a scientist.

So, for the time being we are the proud owners of a turtle named rainbow. We have been feeding him blueberries, cabbage leaves and puppy chow.
