Last Monday, we drove to Bluefield, VA, where my husband was born. Bluefield is a beautiful place. It is nicknamed “The Air Conditioned City” and truly feels even wonderful in the summer.
We spent the night in the house my mother-in-law recently purchased so we could do some fixing up for her. (She is still living in Harlan, KY where we live but wanted a second home.) Anyway, the day after, we stopped at Uncle Tommy’s house for a visit. He has a wonderful flower and vegetable garden with lots of fruit trees and a sweet little creek in the back yard.

Hannah and Laura had so much fun picking apples. Hannah requested apple pie and applesauce! There were a number of bad apples that had fallen to the ground and the girls were so excited when we suggested they toss the apples in the creek.
The creek has a fairly strong current and they loved watching the tossed apples float away. Such a simple treat - but so much fun!
