A Chosen Vessel: Week One

Finding Peace and Purpose

This study is meant to uplift and encourage you as a woman. It is my prayer that as we take this journey together that we will each be strengthened in our faith and that our lives will be changed for the better. You can find the entire study on A Virtuous Woman.

Why don’t we begin our study with prayer? Dear Heavenly Father,  You know, even more than I, how much I need You to be the center of my life. Lord, I have see Your handiwork all around me and yet, my faith is still so small. Help me to trust you with all of my mind, body, and heart. Help me to be the kind of woman that you created me to be. Let my life be a reflection not of this world, but of Your son, Jesus.  Lord, I thank You for coming to die for my sins and I look forward to the day that I can sit at Your feet and see You face to face. Lord, I want to hear those precious words, “Well done my good and faithful servent.” But Lord I know that I do not always do the things that I know I should be doing and I don’t know why! But I also know that by giving You complete control of my life all things are possible.

Let today be the day that I fully surrender my life to You. Let this day be a new day, show me who You want me to be and help me to find that total peace and joy that only comes from knowing You. Thank You for Your faithful patience. I ask all these things in Jesus Name, Amen. Now, I want you to take a few minutes and just be still. Bask in the loving warmth of your Father’s arms and imagine the kind of life He wants for you. Look deep into your heart and see yourself as God sees you. Clothed in filthy rags. Let’s put on the garment of righteousness offered by Jesus. His blood covers you in a bright light. And you are beautiful to gaze upon.  Let’s open our Bibles now to a wonderful story, The Woman at the Well. Read John 4:1-42 out loud.

When you are done reading, realize that YOU are the woman at the well. I want you to just think about the story. Let it really sink in. Pray about it, let the story speak to you. In our next devotion, we will begin to look at the story in depth.
